This wedding was featured in Modern Luxury Weddings Philadelphia

If I could choose what wedding came with the wow factor in 2022, this was it. Kyra and Doug celebrated their union on a gorgeous summer day that fell on my wedding anniversary! Yes, I worked on the day of my wedding anniversary! Yes, I did a wedding on my wedding anniversary. How cool is that? To welcome 18 years of marriage by seeing another couple begin theirs was the perfect treat for me—that and being able to go home to snuggle on my husband later. But I digress.

My team and I arrived at the venue in the afternoon and photographed everything. We started with Kyra, who was getting ready in the bridal suite downstairs. Then we grabbed shots of the venue as it slowly came to life, thanks to all the amazing vendors who were also present to prepare the day. The flowers… the flowers! There were so many flowers for this celebration, and I loved it. If there is one thing you can’t have too much of, it’s flowers: beautiful, gorgeous bouquets that covered the tables, the ceremony location, and even hung from the ceilings. I was in love.

Kyra said she had waited a very long time for this moment and wanted to ensure she celebrated this day with everything. She certainly did that. Her mermaid-fitted wedding gown was a showstopper, along with her beautiful veil. I love that veils are making such a strong comeback and statement. It gave her an ethereal appearance when she made her way to the ceremony. Quite possibly, some of my favorite shots of this wedding day were anything that had to do with the veil.

After the ceremony, it was time for the couple to party in the gorgeous floral-designed reception area. With live music played by The Carnivale, the couple had their first dance, celebrated with toasts, and sliced their wedding cake together. Towards the night’s end, Kyra slipped into her evening gown where friends and families partied hard and danced to classic songs that made me feel old when my assistant told me she didn’t know any of them. A kick in the gut. When songs you loved as a child are now considered “old school classics,” that’s when you know you’re old.

The night was capped with a sparkler exit and a congratulatory kiss before the couple dashed off in their getaway vehicle. It was a beautiful luxury event that I was honored to be part of, and even more honored to see it published in Modern Luxury Weddings! My very first printed publication. I’ve had the honor of being published online on various blogs, but this was the first to see my work printed in a magazine.
