I photographed Benjamin and Kellsey’s wedding at The Morris Arboretum in July of this year in Philadelphia. It was a scorching day but gorgeous, so I can’t complain. This wedding was especially memorable because it was my first one in this location, which I’ve always wanted to shoot at! Just five minutes away from the city center, The Morris Arboretum is a beautiful place with tons of variety – from gardens and sculptures to old buildings and even a historic greenhouse!
This summertime wedding was an instant favorite because of the beautiful weather, endless garden, and vibrant colors. The venue is one of the most beautiful places to have a ceremony on earth. With over 100 acres of gorgeous flowers and plants throughout their property, you can be sure that your photos will be out of this world! If you’re looking for a photographer who can capture all this beauty with his camera, look no further than me!
The Morris Arboretum is an outstanding location with so much variety of landscape and architecture to photograph throughout the event; my mind was racing all day trying to decide where to go next! I wish I had more time to explore the area and reach places like the beautiful swing set up they had on a tree, but time just had a way of flying with how much fun everyone had, including myself.
I think one of the reasons I love the couples I work with is that while we try to take advantage of all the beautiful locations and places, we’re able to adapt on the fly and take it all in with casual flair and enjoyment. I like to think I’m pretty chill when it comes to directing and guiding my couples. We’re not zipping around everywhere to the point where the team is probably more exhausted than I am. We’re just choosing a few spots, taking a few gorgeous shots, and then ensuring the couple can enjoy the ceremony and the day. So you get a beautiful blend of those editorial-like photographs and then a documentary viewpoint where you’re yourself and none the wiser to my presence. It makes for a more effortless, relaxed experience that always makes my couples happy.
The weather was perfect, as well. We had some clouds and full sun at different times during the day. The wide open spaces make great backgrounds for photos, especially when you get them into the shade or backlit by sunlight. And there are lots of paths that go through lush woods where you can get some beautiful shots, too; it makes me want to go back in springtime when everything is in bloom!
I love the arboretum because it’s such a unique location. The trees, flowers, and pathways are so beautiful that you can’t help but feel inspired by the setting. It’s also a fantastic place to get married or research because there are many different plants and animals!
I’d recommend the Morris Arboretum for a wedding. It’s an excellent location for photos and a wonderful place to feel like you’re in your little world. I love these photos in front of this sculpture garden area!
I hope you enjoyed these photos from Benjamin and Kellsey’s wedding at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia.
